If you were curious as to whether the cherry Sakura trees referenced a few posts ago produced the cherries we eat, you weren't alone.  The cherry Sakura trees planted as part of landscaping are ornamental cherry trees which produce a small, inedible fruit.

    Japan gifted the DC, non edible Cherry trees many yrs. ago. They were a beautiful sight but often bloomed after the annual DC Cherry blossom festival. (former DC area resident)
