Gigante Nuts!

While my mother-in-law, Peggy, and sister-in-law, Cynthia were here visiting, we all went to a San Francisco Giants baseball game.  It was great fun.  We weren't in the bleachers, but were in the outfield near the third base foul pole.  Needless to say, we were pretty far from the action.  Getting behind-the-plate seats is pretty pricey for a team who won the World Series last year.

I'm not sure how Conery found out about the San Jose Giants (the minor league team that feeds the SF Giants), but he found $18 box seats for the July 5th game against the Modesto Nuts.

In addition to having great seats for a game, there were going to be fireworks after.  Since we didn't feel like braving the crowds to watch fireworks on the 4th, this post game display was going to fill the need to hear things go boom!

The game was a lot of fun...totally a scene from Bull Durham with the local flavor and baseball groupies.  There were even random rituals going on throughout the stands...the Hawaiian shirt crew did they own version of the 3rd inning YMCA sing- and dance-a-along.  And in the fifth inning, everyone sings Neil Diamond's Sweet Caroline.  Apparently, Diamond's song is a sing-a-long thing at other baseball games; I'd love to hear why that song became a thing.

They had some awesome BBQ on the third base side along with Pacifico on tap!

The best part, however, was the people watching and the old dude next to me who was chatting up everyone around him about how impressive the mascot (Gigante) was dancing to Teach Me How To Dougie.

The SJGs had a pretty bad game the night before, according to the old dude.  As luck would have it, they had a great game the night we were there - natch.  The final score was 9 - 4.
